This committee works closely with our professional staff and consultants to maintain, enhance and preserve our beautiful Temple. The committee meets intermittently, as needed.
The members of this committee are “financial people” with some experience in the budgetary or accounting worlds. They gather information from staff and committee chairs to form the Operating Budget, then monitor the budget and advise the Temple Board of variances. The committee meets most often during the fall but occasionally during the rest of the year.
As needed, this committee updates and revises the Temple’s By-laws.
Temple Israel’s Chesed Caring Committee reaches out to members who are or have been ill. Staying in touch with members by phone or personal visits is an important function of this committee; they are also available to provide “hands-on” help whenever possible.
Working closely with our Executive Director, this committee is made up of people who have been in the marketing or public relations fields, or have some expertise in how to best represent the Temple in all forms of media.
The goal of the Membership Committee is to increase membership at TI. This committee devises and implements programs to attract new members and maintain current members. Participants on this committee are asked to be visible at Shabbat services and to interact with congregants, with a good working knowledge of membership policies and programs so they can represent the Temple knowledgably. Meets often as needed.
The Temple office uses volunteers to help with mailings and phones. If you are interested, please call Linda Solomon, our Executive Director.
This group works on arranging family and adult social programming for our congregants.
This committee meets several times a year to discuss pertinent issues of religious policy with the input of the Rabbi and Cantor.
Throughout the year, the Temple Israel congregation participates in tikkun olam (repairing the world) through feeding the homeless, performing projects in the community to improve the quality of life for others, collecting food for local food pantries, etc. This committee oversees and manages these opportunities.
Temple Israel is constantly working to keep up with the technologies of today! Our webmaster chairs this committee of “techies” who bring their ideas and experience to the table and help translate them to a synagogue environment.
