Updates from the 1901 Committee
on Saturday, 02 March 2013.
Please note that the Kitchen is also available for commercial business rentals and to prepare food for community events. Please be sure to let any organizations that you are involved with know that we have this magnificent kitchen facility that can be used for catering any of their dining needs when using our Media Center or outdoor courtyards. We are also “user friendly” to caterers, bakers and sandwich makers who may be looking for a place to work out of on a regular basis. Our Executive Director, Linda Solomon, will be happy to give tours of the kitchen facility and to discuss possible rental arrangements.
Call Linda Solomon at 833-8421 to see the latest installment in the story that is Temple Israel: renovation, change, and progress.

We have Good News, Great News, and Spectacular News!
The Good News:
As part of our continuing efforts, we prevailed upon our contractor to work quickly and upgrade the air conditioning in the Sanctuary. The improvement has been noticeable and was achieved just in time for Rosh Hashanah services.
The Great News:
Temple Israel is under contract with our builder, IBIS Building Corp., and with our kitchen equipment supplier, Cheney Brothers, Inc. to complete our kitchen. We are waiting for the City of West Palm Beach to complete its permit review and issue our permit for construction. During the next 10 – 12 weeks, we will construct and complete a new and nearly 1,000 square foot commercially equipped catering kitchen. We thank all of the Kitchen Committee members for their efforts and all of the donors who have previously and recently contributed to the Capital Campaign. Through all of these efforts and contributions, we are turning the vision of our renovation and modernization of Temple Israel into a reality.
The Spectacular News:
Due to the generosity of Barbara and Ken Horowitz, the Central Courtyard will now be known as the “Horowitz Courtyard”. Their recent contribution to the Capital Campaign was the culmination of a memorable and inspiring Rosh Hashanah and provides the funds for architectural and engineering plans for the completion of the last major temple facilities: the Social Hall Ballroom and Cocktail Reception Room. These rooms will be designed to serve the needs of our temple family and our community and will be constructed commensurate with the quality and beauty of our other renovations. With these plans, we can develop a budget for these rooms. A complete Temple Israel is now within sight and will be reachable with a concerted effort by all of us.
Our success with all of the other renovation and construction of our temple provides the confidence that this Congregation will rise to the occasion once again so that we will complete the Social Hall and Cocktail Reception Room. As we all know, the renovation and construction of the Sanctuary, Offices, Classrooms, Media Center/Cyber Cafe’, Water View Courtyard, Central Courtyard, Parking Lot , and Porte Cochere were completed during the worst economic period in American history since the Great Depression. We overcame doubt and fear, we moved Temple Israel forward, and we managed to pay for every aspect of our renovation and modernization without a mortgage. We can, we must, and we will move forward to complete our temple but, we can only do so with your help. Please follow the lead of Barbara and Ken Horowitz and contact our Executive Director, Linda Solomon (561) 833-8421, with your contribution towards the completion of your Temple Israel home.
We made tremendous progress during 5772. Together we can make 5773 a year of inspiration, celebration, transformation, and completion for Temple Israel.
