This fall, Minnesotans will have the opportunity to vote on a constitutional amendment that would ask: “Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide that only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as marriage in Minnesota?”

If this amendment succeeds, Minnesota would join the 30 states that have constitutional bans on marriage equality, effectively writing discrimination into its state constitution.

A Priest, a Minister, and a Rabbi Walk into a Bar A diverse cross-section of partners in Minnesota, including labor, communities of color, and the faith community are standing up for equality, forming a coalition that will hopefully result in the defeat this amendment.

We are particularly proud of the Reform Movement’s involvement in this fight. Rabbi Michael Latz of Shir Tikvah Congregation in Minneapolis created a YouTube video with Episcopal Deacon Rex McKee and Lutheran Pastor Jim Erlandson standing up for the right of religious institutions to decide who they wish to marry and saying NO to this radical amendment to the Minnesota Constitution.
