TI Committees

Beautification
This committee works closely with our professional staff and consultants to maintain, enhance and preserve our building and campus. The committee meets intermittently, as needed.
Karen List, chairperson.

Budget
Though it’s not a prerequisite to be a professional financial whiz, it does help for members of this committee to know their way around a P/L statement. Working together with TI staff and committee chairs, this committee sets the Operating Budget, monitors it, and keeps the Temple Board apprised of its status. This group meets with regularity during fall months, but less frequently the rest of the year.
Ellen Ehrenkranz, chairperson.

Chesed Caring
Members of Temple Israel’s Chesed Caring Committee reach out via phone or personal visits to congregants who are or have been ill. These volunteers also are available to provide “hands-on” help whenever possible.
Beryl Goverman, chairperson.

Membership
With a goal to attract new Temple Israel members and ensure that those who have joined continue to derive the most from their affiliation, this committee actively interacts with all who step inside the synagogue for services and events. Many from the committee are Greeters, on hand to welcome attendees each Friday and, in turn, introduce them to others. Meetings are held as needed.
Amy Jonas, chairperson.

Religious Practices
The rituals and practices upheld at Temple Israel are decided by this committee with input from the Rabbi and Cantor. The group meets several times a year to discuss any issues that impact these fundamental mainstays of our congregation.
Gee Gee Eisenberg, chairperson.

Security
This committee is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Temple Israel’s safety and security – determining appropriate systems and actions that ensure the highest level of protection and integrating them seamlessly into daily operations.
Marty List, chairperson.

Social Action
This Temple Israel committee has organized a robust offering of social action initiatives that directly benefit the local population as well as the nation and world beyond. Some are ongoing programs, some short-term projects; all thrive on congregant engagement and are driven by tikkum olam – repairing the world.
Roslyn Leopold, chairperson.

Technology
Temple Israel is constantly working to keep up with the technologies of today! Our webmaster chairs this committee of “techies” who bring their ideas and experience to the table and help translate them to a synagogue environment.
Adrian Sandoval, chairperson.
